Do you want a post about something in particular? Do you want a deeper development of one post, or a second part of it? Do you want me to analyze a product?
If the answer to the above questions is yes, please add a comment to this post. Feel free to ask everything you want (I’m also free to say no

Hi
I’d be interested reading your comments on
• Remedy’s Multi Tenancy model and its construction
• Considerations on applying Tenancy Model
• How different parts ITSM use the Tenancy Model
• Any best practices for Tenancy Model
P.S Have been enjoying you blog
Peter
OK! There’s a lot that can be told about multi-tenancy and how it’s applied in Remedy ITSM.
Two main focus are available when talking about tenancy in ARS: How it is programmed? How can or should be used?
As soon I have enough time, I’ll write about it!
I have been looking around for reviews of remedyforce and have not been able to find info. I am also trying to find comments re experience transitioning to a tool like remedyforce when not familiar with remedy. Do you have any insight?
I’m sorry but I don’t have enough experience on remedyforce to make a review. Just to say that Remedy and remedyforce are different products. The first main difference between both is the platform. Remedy is based on ARS, and remedyforce is based on salesforce. So, internally are different application. Of course both applications are designed in a very similar way, so you can see a lot of similarities. But aren’t exactly the same and there are concepts present in one that doesn’t exists on the other.
The application is young (two years old) but it owns all the knowledge from Remedy. IMHO I wouldn’t go with a so younger product, unless contacting before with some customer to know about the experience.
Hi
I was searching some document where there can be a insight about the newly added “Service” execute on in filter, I didn’t found anywhere , it will be gr8 if u can put some light on it .
OK. It’s on queue!
Done!
Hi,
I have two questions. What is the difference between .def file and .arx file? And apart from updating multiple rows at a time and to compare data in a table, for what other purposes table looping is used? Can anybody help me to get answers for these doubts?
Regards,
Ravi
Hi Ravi,
I recommend to make those questions on the product forums of BMC Communities. A lot of experienced Remedy users (and some of BMC) will answer your questions, quicker (and probably better) than I can do.
But to be polite I will answer you: Def files store definition objects (like forms or workflow elements), while arx is about the data contained on that forms.
Table looping can be used for a lot of thinks. You can selectively count request, or perform some complex additive computations from the table. Any process involving reviewing or modifying the data on the listed requests at the table involves a table loop. So the uses can be uncountable.
Thanks a lot Jose
I will post these questions in BMC communities.
Hi,
I was wondering if there is some documentation available on ITSM applications in terms of list of forms in different applications, what are they used for and so on. The applications are getting complex day by day in terms of workflow and without proper documentation from BMC it takes a lot of effort from developers just to understand how the OOB applications work
Thanks
Suraaj
Hi,
I am remedy developer with 5+years of experience. Now I want to re-enter the field after 18months gap.
Please can you suggest any BMC certification that can be done to make an re-enrty? Is an re-entry possible after this long gap?
Please give your input
Surely. The product has evolved in 18 months, but not too much to become a handicap.
Maybe overlays is the most outstanding recent feature, and it’s easy to master quickly.
Also, I don’t believe in certifications. I wrote about it.
big like for u mr jose :*
Thanks!!!
i want to know how to customize survey such that it allows more than 4 questions…
As far as I know, No without developing or customizing the product.
But… I ask you to consider it. Do you really need more than 4 questions? Do you really expect that a greater survey won’t disturb your users?
IMHO, Surveys must be simple short and meaningful.
hello
when i make a Configuration in asset management 2 messages appear respectively
1).The infrastructure change ticket, CRQ000000000410, is created. (ARNOTE 44725)
2.)No change coordinator group could be found. Manually select a group from the menus. If no group with an individual in the functional role of infrastructure change coordinator is defined, notify your System Administrator. (ARERR 48461)
how can i fix this ??
Sammer, I’m sorry to tell you that this is not a support site, to make questions on individual incidences. I think that BMC communities and ARSlist are a better place. I focus all my effort on general situations, that can help several users.
So, I recommend you to publish your case on BMC Communities or ARSlist.
See you!
My company is expanding a single tenancy Remedy ITSM environment to our global locations. We currently have our North American locations up and live in Remedy 7.6.04, but are expanding to Europe and Latin America. I am currently developing a project plan and want to know of a good process to ensure that the proper procedures take place. Specifically, I am concerned with data gathering and the implementation sequence.
Thanks!
Chris
Woa!! You are facing one of the most difficult migration projects that can be seen on Remedy.
From single tenancy, to multi-tenancy. To single locale (language), to multiple locale. To single currency, to multiple currencies. ¿Are you planning to include multiple AR servers in DSO?
My experience tells me that there is no master guide to this kind of projects. But, also there are a lot of little things that can help you.
I’ll think about a post about it, but can’t guarantee anything.
Only, what I think it’s the most important fact when you work in an international implantation project: Always thing on cultural differences. The way of working is very different from one country to another.
Jose,
Thanks for the response. Fortunately, we do not have a need to move to multi-tenancy as our information can be shared between the different regions. At first, the implementation may sound immense, but I don’t think it is that bad. Luckily, we are sticking to English as the language in IT, so we only have a need for multi-lingual noitifications and SRM forms for external customers.
Like I said, my biggest concern is with information gathering. I am travelling to Europe for an information gathering session and want to develop a plan to ensure that I am thinking about all the different pieces of information I need to gather to begin building their information into our existing instance of Remedy.
Any directions you can provide would help!!
Regards,
Chris
Hello,
I’d love to see a post on Major Incident Management and how Remedy may be used to track/report on past Major Incidents. As with any company, whenever we have a major business-impacting outage, there are many questions that should be documented within our Remedy system so that we don’t forget the fire once the firefighting is over. We use Impact and Urgency pretty effectively, but not every Critical incident is alike. We are looking to implement a way to track Major Incidents and would love any suggestions you may have. We can customize the tool, as needed. We are using the best practice view currently. Is there an option in the classic view that we could simply expose for our uses?
Thanks!
Great topic!!!
I’ve recently published a new procedure for the incident management of a big company. It was based on OTRS, but, the ITIL facts remain the same. I was continually thinking about how to do the same recommendation in Remedy, and it has a lot of tools to do it (also I see a bit of customization, but can be avoided).
As soon as I have time I will publish a post about it.
Thanks for the idea!
